A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Queenie Cupp Brossett will be held Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Pineville. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville. Father Bruce Miller, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and services. Mrs. Brossett, 91, of Pineville, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Pensacola, Florida. The family asks that visitation be observed Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Pineville from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service at 5:30 p.m. Queenie was born in Alexandria, Louisiana and was a graduate of Bolton High School. During her working career she was a teacher's aide at Lessie Moore Elementary School, the first store manager for Weiss and Goldring in the Alexandria Mall and retired from Cenla Credit Union as a credit counselor. She was a member of Catholic Daughters- Court of Bishop Greco, No. 2072, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pineville for over 55 years and a former member of the church choir. Mrs. Brossett loved playing cards and dominoes, cooking, sewing and reading. One of her many joys was having company over for a cup of coffee and a piece of cake but her greatest passion was taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially loved telling them stories to teach them a lesson and praying the rosary with them. She will now be reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, James H. Brossett, Sr.; son, Marvin L. Brossett; parents, John F. and Bertha Ashley Cupp; brothers, John, Ralph, George and Russell and her sisters, Gwenett, Althea and Ruby. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Queenie leaves behind her precious children, son, James H. Brossett, Jr. and wife, Lydia; daughter, Frances Herrington and husband, Bill; stepdaughter, Geraldine Stokes; and daughter-in-law, Rita Brossett. Her memory will surely be carried on by her grandchildren, Renee Brossett, Joseph Casey Brossett, Michael Joseph Brossett, Elizabeth Broyles, William Herrington, Christian Herrington, Katherine Herrington; her step grandchildren, Robin, Cindy and David and her great grandchildren, Devan Brossett and Mikayla Gill. Also left to cherish her memory are a brother, Marion Cupp and wife, Tippy; sisters, Daisy Mayeau, Monette Paul and a host of other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola, 5041 North 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL, 32504.
