Bio

James was the son of Alexander and Ester McKinney McPheeters. He married Amanda Clements Feb. 15, 1853 in Orange County, Indiana. They moved to Ringgold County in 1856 to homestead 281 acres. They were the parents of 12 children-Ezra Wright(1854-1928), Martha Jane (Maudlin)(1857-1933), Walter Campbell(1859-1912), John Robinson(1861-1929), Elen C.(1864-1865), Esther Annie(Roberts)(1866-1890), Mary I.(1868-1870), James V.(1870-1872), Joseph A.(1872-1874), Minnie B.(1874-1892), William Alva(1876-1876), and Ida Frances(Coverdell)(1878-1966).
