Amanda was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Garr Clements. She married James Alexander McPheeters Feb. 15,1853 in Orange County, Indiana. They moved to Ringgold County in 1856 from Indiana. They were the parents of 12 children-Ezra Wright(1854-1928), Martha Jane(Maudlin)(1857-1933),Walter Campbell(1859-1912),John Robinson(1861-1929),Elen C.(1864-1865),Esther Annie(Roberts)(1866-1890),Mary I.(1868-1870),James V.(1870-1872),Joseph A.(1872-1874),Minnie B.(1874-1892),William Alva(1876-1876) and Ida Francis(Coverdell)(1878-1966).
