Bio
Hulen Grady Havens, of Dallas, passed away peacefully at his home on September 16, 2013 at the age of 87 after a five month battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Miriam Erwin Havens, whom he tenderly cared for up until his death. Hulen is lovingly remembered by his two sons: Tim (wife Lynn) of Midlothian, TX, and Jimmy Dodd; four grandchildren: Hudson Grady Havens of Dallas; Kindra Havens Klick (husband Chris) of Ovilla; Kamrin Havens Ortega (husband Joseph) of Cedar Hill, and Christopher Havens of Arlington; and three great grandchildren: Aiden Grady Ortega, Haley Jane Ortega and Kane Hudson Klick. Hulen counted his greatest accomplishment as being a faithful member of the church of Christ for over 65 years where he served as a deacon, elder, and others in need. He leaves a rich spiritual heritage as evidenced in his family and many friends. Hulen retired from Dallas Power and Light after 41 years of service, and was also a Navy Veteran of WWII. The funeral service will be Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Downtown church of Christ, 332 W. Cedar Street, Cedar Hill, TX 75104. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at Jeter and Sons funeral home. Burial will follow at Little Bethel Memorial Park. Published in Dallas Morning News on September 18, 2013
