No local services are scheduled at this time for James Q. Wallace, 2705 W. Missouri Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Wallace, 94, died Monday, November 2, 2009 at his home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. Mr. Wallace was born October 23, 1915 in Crosbyton, Texas; the son of Jackson Philander Wallace and Sarah Ollie (Myers) Wallace. On July 23, 1937 he was married to Dee Dee Drake in Ralls, Texas. He came to Artesia in 1938 from Crosbyton. He was a painter and drywall contractor. He was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Association, and an avid horseman; raising and training horses for many years. He was preceded in death by parents and by all of his brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife Dee Dee Wallace of the family home; sons James E. Wallace of Artesia, and Eddie J. Wallace of Artesia; daughters Betty Elizabeth Rollins of Texas, Linda Faye Manry of Pecos, Texas, and Jennifer Quinn Chase of Artesia; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
