Adalbertus (George) Siemek was born April 23, 1856 in Szynwald Poland to Ignatius and Marianna (Plebanek) Siemek. His father died when he was twelve. His mother remarried to a cousin of her first husband, Adalbertis (George) Siemek (1846-1923). On 29 May 1878, the family arrived in New York City on the ship Pomerania. From there, they came directly to Nebraska living in Polk County. On November 17, 1884, he married Constancia Czarnik. From this union, fourteen children were born. Constancia died in 1911 shortly after the birth of the last child, Edward. George never remarried. ================= Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent January 1930 George Schinek, 77, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mike C. Paprocki, 408 East Ninth street, after an illness of about four months duration, of leakage of the heart. Born in Poland in 1853 (sic), Mr. Schinek came to America when about 16 years of age, locating at Columbus, Neb. Later he moved to Genoa and for a number of years was engaged in farming near there, and after retiring from active farm life moved to Belgrade, Neb., where he lived until coming to Grand Island about six months ago to reside with his daughter. His wife preceded him in death about 20 years ago. Surviving him are three sons, John, of Cedar Rapids, Neb.; Charles and Tom, of Belgrade, and nine daughters, Sister Felicitas, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Sister Oliveria of Jamez, N. M.; Mrs. Frank Paprocki, of Tarnov, Neb.; Mrs. Marion Cooper, of Belgrade; Mrs. Tony Cedar, of Fullerton; Mrs. Tony Koziol, of Cedar Rapids, Neb.; Mrs. Joseph Koziol of Albion, Mrs. Leo Skibinski, of Rock Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Mike Paprocki of Grand Island. The body will be taken to Fullerton for burial, funeral services taking place at St. Peter's Catholic church there at 9:30 o'clock Thursday morning, Rev. Father Virgil officiating.
