Hannah Marie Shelton Hammit entered her final heavenly home Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, in The Woodlands. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Marie Hammit was born June 27, 1929, in Arlington to James Neil and Leta Shelton. She was an active member of several Baptist churches, including North Richland Hills Baptist Church and Crossroads Baptist Church of The Woodlands. While at North Richland Hills, she was active in the church choir, a youth teacher and for over 30 years as a preschool teacher. She worked as a medical secretary and transcriptionist. Mrs. Hammit was preceded in death by her husband, L. Dee Hammit; her parents; three brothers, J. Tom, Alfred and Bill Shelton; and one sister, Marguerite Holbrook. Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, G. Terry and Lynda Martinaz; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Mike Kindlinger; grandsons, Gary "Trey" Martinaz and Brandon and Lucas Kindlinger; great-grandchildren, Adelle, Esau and Madeline Kindlinger; brother, Charles Shelton; sister, Naomi Neeley; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
