Pliner, John Obituary Hillsboro Sentry Enterprise 1962-03-07 John Pliner, 85, an esteemed pioneer and former resident of the Hillsboro area passed away Wednesday March 7, 1962 at his home in Dellwood, Pliner, Adams County, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held at nine o’clock Saturday morning March 10, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Adams. The Reverend Father Nikoial, pastor of the Church, officiated at the rites. Internment services, at which the Reverend Father Frank Lestinsky, pastor of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, officiated, were at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in the Town of Greenwood. John Pliner, son of Joseph Pliner Sr. and Anna Vitcenda Pliner was born January 27, 1877 in Vernon County. He received his education and grew to young manhood in this locality. He was married to Miss Frances Hotek. Mr. and Mrs. Pliner established their home on a farm in the Town of Greenfield where for many years they were well known and influential residents. To them were born four daughters and three sons, all of whom survive their parents. Mrs. Pliner passed away January 27, 1929. In 1949 Mr. Pliner retired from farming and for some years was in business at Union Center and Elroy. Later he Purchased a farm near Necedah where he resided until 1851 when he moved to Dellwood. Mr. Pliner is survived by four daughters Mrs. Helen Liska and Mrs. Edward Verbsky, both of Hillsboro, Mrs. Floyd Nale of LaFarge and Mrs. Agnes Larson of Sun Prairie; three sons William Pliner of Hillsboro Henry J. Pliner and Richard R. Pliner, both of Madison; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Pliner of Bloom City; many other relatives and a large number of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Frances Pliner; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pliner Sr.; one brother James Pliner and five sisters Mrs. Anton Casa, Mrs. Earl Stowell, Mrs. Albert Herbeck, Mrs. Wencil Herbeck and Mrs. Anton Housner. The death of Mr. Pliner has brought deep sorrow to many in this community where he has a large number relatives and friends and where retired for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Adams and in his active years was a member of various community organizations in which he worked and cooperated to further the attainment of many worthy, helpful objectives. A man of kindly personality and genial manner, he will be especially remembered as a pioneer of this l
