Pliner, Richard R. HARTFORD/MADISON — Richard R. Pliner, age 81, of Hartford, formerly of Madison, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 24, 1994, at an Appleton Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born on May 22, 1913 in Hillsboro, Wisconsin, the son of John and Frances Pliner. He married the former Myrtle Thurston, on April 3, 1941. Richard served in the tank division of the United States Army during World War II, participating in the Invasion of Normandy. He worked at Madison Pack, Gardner Bakery and Gateway Transportation for over 30 years and the Wisconsin National Guard. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the VFW Post #1318 and the Commonwealth Masonic Lodge #325 F and A.M. He was also an avid fisherman, gardner and woodworker. Survivors include his son, DuWayne (Sally) Pliner of Hartford; His daughter, Barbara Pliner of Janesville; five grandchildren, James (Janet) Pliner; Michael Pliner; Michelle (Neal) Feller; Steven and Richard Pliner; his sister, Sylvia Nale of LaFarge; three sisters in law, Frances Thurston; Amy Bredesen; and Joy Thurston. He was preceded in death by wife Myrtle on March 5, 1991; his parents; two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago Street at 1:00 p.m, on Thursday, October 27, 1994, with Reverend William Gary Kobs officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites being conducted by the Madison Area Veteran's Council. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Gunderson Funeral Home
