Agatha R. DeCapp, 93, of East Moline, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, where she had been a resident for the past five years. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. The Rev. Keith Walder will preside. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Agatha Wessel was born March 5, 1917, in St. Bernard, Neb., to Jake and Amelia Zwiener Wessel. She moved to Rock Island as a young woman and there married Albert DeCapp on March 9, 1943. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1981. Agatha was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, for 60 years until its closing in 2009, where she was a member of the St. Rita's Circle. She recently became a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Silvis. She had worked for a number of years at Foremost Packing Co., East Moline, until it closed. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Agatha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay and John Wilson, Coal Valley; her three grandchildren, Veronica (Thad) Schroeder and Valerie (Kelly) DeSmet, both of Coal Valley, and Jarred (Sarah) Wilson, Westerville, Ohio; five great-grandchildren, Cole and Morgan Schroeder, Julia and Ella DeSmet and Isabel Wilson. She also is survived by a brother, Onie (Eileen) Wessel, and a sister, Eunice Olmer, both of Humphrey, Neb.; and sisters-in-law, Lovina Wessel, Moline, Dorothy Wessel, Madison, Neb., Arlene Wessel, Lindsay, Neb., and Betty Wessel, Columbus, Neb.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph, Tony, Urban, Myron, Frederick, Louis, Larry and Jim; sisters, Carolyn Classen, Adeline Rezac, Gertrude Jakub and Marie Wessel. The family wishes to thank Dr. Nancy Short for her kindness and care, and the wonderful staff at Illini Restorative Care for their great and loving care of Agatha. Memorials may be made to Illini Restorative Care Activity Fund or Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
