Corporal in Company C, 23rd Machine Gun Battalion, 7th Infantry Division of the US Army during World War I. Roy enlisted in the Army on May 2, 1918 from Nebraska and was honorably discharged on Feb. 18, 1919. ======================================= Obituary from the Wolbach, Nebraska newspaper, the Wolbach Messenger, dated July 19, 1956, page 1: Roy Kinney, 61, died unexpectedly at his home in Chula Vista, California, on July 6th. His death was attributed to a heart attack. Funeral services were held by the Masonic Lodge at Chula Vista. Burial was in the Fort Rosecrans Cemetery at San Diego, California. The deceased was well known here. He was born and reared in this community, and was a veteran of World War I. Survivors are his wife, five sisters: Mrs. Dick Bucy of Benton, Iowa; Mrs Edde Bilyeau of Billings, Montana; Mrs. Mabel Wagner; Mrs Albert Trosper, and Mrs William Johnson; three brothers: Lloyd of Scotia, George of St. Paul, and Archie of Martinez, California, and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Kinney, and by a brother and sister.
