Harris, Sr., 69, a well known Merchant of Bernice, died Friday, April 1 at 1:20 a.m. in a Bernice hospital, after a short illness. A native of Claiborne parish, Mr. Harris had lived in Bernice for the past 24 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 239 F. & A.M. and Order of the Eastern Star No. 29. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at First Baptist Church of Bernice with Rev. R.B. Middleton, Rev. M.F. Copeland and Rev. Billy Smith, officiating. Interment followed in the Arlington Cemetery of Homer. Survivors are his widow; a son, G.G. Harris, Jr., of Bernice; a daughter, Mrs. M.H. Greening of Shreveport, and four grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Rev. C.B. Harris of Magnolia, Ark., a sister, Mrs. Roy Evans, of Shreveport and 4 nieces and 4 nephews.
