The People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), April 24, 1947, p. 1, col. 5 MRS. MARY ZIMA DIED APRIL 14 Mrs. Mary Zima, 79, died at her home in south David City Monday, April 14. She had been in failing health the past few years and was bedfast the last five months of her life. Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic church at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, in charge of Rev. W. A. Murphy. The pallbearers were Ludvik Kouba, Steve Kouba, Robert Janak, Anton Novak, Louis Rezac and Raymond Janak. Burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery. Mary Kopecek was bon June 19, 1867, in Moravia and came to America at the age of five years. She was married in 1914 to Frank Zima, who passed away eight years ago. She leaves eight stepchildren: Joe, Tom, Frank and Louis Zima, Mrs. Mollie Janak, Mrs. Agnes Shonka, Mrs. Rose Johannes and Mrs. Caroline Medinger; one brother and four sisters, Joe, Stazie, Josie, Adelle and Jennie Kopecek. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Anton Kopecek, sister Katie, Mrs. Tony Janak, and Mrs. Frances Novak. Mrs. Zima was a kind woman and took the place of a good mother to the family.
