SERVICES HELD IN COLBY, KANSAS FOR HATTIE MAZANEC, 89 Funeral services for Hattie Mazanec, 88, of Colby, Kansas were held Monday, August 18, from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby, with the Rev. Henry Keiffer officiating. Mrs. Mazanec died at the Lantern Park Manor in Colby. Hattie, the daughter of Frank and Helen Novacek Kobza, was born April 4, 1897, at Brainard. Hattie grew up on a farm near Brainard and helped her mother with raising the family of seven following the death of her father at age 35. In June 1916, she was united in marriage to Adolf Mazanec at Holy Trinity Church, Brainard. They lived near Brainard for about five years before moving to Colby, Kansas. in 1921. Survivors include her children, Raymond and Josephine Mazanec of Hays, Kansas, Albin and Loretta Mazanec of Colby, Kansas, Paul and Helen Korinek of Atwood, Kansas, Sister Rita Ann (Irene) of Beloit, Kansas, and James Mazanec of Colby, Kansas, a son-in-law, Richard Seivert of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, brother, Emil Kobza of Brainard, three sisters, Maggie Boholski of Dwight, Rose, Mazanec of Middleton, Idaho, and Lillian Urbanosky of Omaha, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Mary, a child of nine months, and Celestine, Seivert of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, two brothers, Vincent, in infancy, and Frank Kobza, two sisters, Agnes, in infancy, and Julia, Svoboda, and a great granddaughter.
