Bio

Edward M. Wietzki, 77, of Grand Island, died Sunday, February 13, 2005, at Central City Care Center. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel with Father Jack Rademacher officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday. Edward was born December 6, 1927 at Ord, NE, the son of Paul and Martha Wietzki. He was raised on a farm and graduated from Erickson High School. He then worked as a schoolteacher and as city land surveyor. On July 2, 1948, he married Lillian Foster in Erickson. Edward worked for Massey Ferguson Farm Equipment as a salesman for over 30 years and enjoyed visiting with farmers. Edward was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, a former member of the Eagles and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Grand Island, and one daughter: Cindy Cassell of North Loup, NE, four grandchildren: Simon Cassell and Sarah (Mrs. Jason) Mullen both of Ord, Crystal Cassell and Angela Cassell, both of North Loup, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, Charles Wietzki of Erickson. Edward was preceded in death by two sons: Gary and Michael, and an infant daughter, Linda.
