Rebecca Sue (McCarty) Skelton Ward Funeral service for Mrs. Rebecca McCarty Ward, 87, of Lufkin, Texas will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Dickie Dickson officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery. Mrs. Ward was born on June 4, 1925, in Lufkin, Texas to the late Jauny McCarty and Sue Ann Dixon McCarty. She passed away on January 22, 2013, in Lufkin. Rebecca was raised in Keltys, Texas. She graduated high school in 1943, and she enjoyed sports at a young age. She loved to sing in the Church choir at First Baptist Church of Keltys where she was a member and also a Sunday school teacher. She loved her family, cooking, singing and doing various good works for church. Rebecca is survived by her son, Jeff Ward; daughter, Darla Kay Boles (fiancà Sam Brunner); two step-sons, Paul Ward and Johnny Ward (wife Velda); two brothers, John A. McCarty (wife Helen) and J.W. McCarty (wife Gwen); special friends, Gari and Kalee Thompson; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family and good friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Ward; a son, Kenneth David Skelton; two sisters, Margaret Lawrence and Marie Langford, and step-son, Gerald Ward. * obit edited - full obit published in The Lufkin Daily News on January 24, 2013
