Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), January 2, 1947, p. 4, col. 5 LIVED IN SAME LOCALITY ENTIRE LIFE Abie, Dec. 20 – Frank J. Macholan, 62, died in the David City hospital Tuesday, Dec. 24, after illness of seven weeks. He was a lifetime resident of east Butler cunty vicinity, having been born near Linwood April 13, 1884. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Machalon. His marriage to Miss Josephine Bunda took place September 20, 1910, in the Abie Catholic church, and they resided on a farm near Abie. Mrs. Macholan survives her husband, also one son, Edward Macholan, of Lincoln, a brother, John Macholan, of Crete, and a siter, Mrs. Frances Ustohal of Linwood. Funeral services were held in the Catholic church at Abie Thursday, Dec. 26, at 10 a.m., with Rev. A. Tomek in charge. The choir singers were Mrs. James Shorney, Jr., Eugene Bartunek, Marion Prochaska and Misses Mildred Bartunek, Leona Prochaska and Mary Ann Prochaska with Miss Martha Bartunek organist. Burial was in Linwood Catholic cemetery with the following serving as pall bearers: Joe Jaros, Louis Kracman, Joe Macholan, Joe Ustohal, Joe Walla and Emil Walla. Among those in attendance at the services from away were Mrs. John Macholan, Mrs. Ed Severyn, Mrs. Ben Shavlik, Joe Cink and Joe Macholan, of Crete; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Docekal of Brainard; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bunda, of Seward; Mr. and Mrs. L. Phillips, of North Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Ustohal, of Linwood; and many relatives and friends from all parts of Butler county. ____ p. 8, col. 1 Card of Thanks – We wish to express our gratitude and sincere appreciation to neighbors, relatives and friends for comfort, spiritual bouquets and many deeds of kindness extended to us during our bereavement occasioned by the death of our beloved husband and father.
