Bio

The Carnegie Herald, Wed., June 29, 1977 Local Woman's Father Dies Herbert William Copeland of Cordell, 78, father of Mrs. Billie Doss of Carnegie, died Sunday, June 19. He was born in Brock, in 1898, and moved to Shamrock, Texas, at age 6. He lived there until 1927 when he moved to Thomas. In 1932 his family moved to Beckham county. In 1964, he moved to Cordell. He was married to Zetta Louise Nidiffer in Shamrock in 1917. Copeland was a retired farmer and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cordell. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at the Texola Baptist Church in Texola, with Rev. R.B. Noth and Rev. Robert Shugart officiating. Interment was in Shamrock cemetery. He is survived by his wife of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Billie Doss of Carnegie; one son, Bob Copeland of Cordell; five sisters, Lela Williams of Odessa, Texas, Seidel Franklin of Shamrock, Lucille O'Neil of Enid and Bernice Rae Isaacs of Hawthorne, Calif., and Merle Dorman of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers, L.B. Copeland of Shamrock, Elmer Copeland of Bakersfield, and Garland Copeland of Manteca, Calif.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
