Marjorie Darby Garrett, 83, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, Saturday, December 8, 2012. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 11, at Wade Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Woodall officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Marjorie, or Margie as she was known to her loved ones, was born in Moshiem, Texas, to the late Homer and Rosa (Billings) Darby. She was raised with her five sisters and two brothers in the Valley Mills area of Bosque County and graduated from Moshiem High School. Margie married Robert Lee Garrett in Pasadena, Texas, on July 25, 1950. She was a pipeliner's wife, and travelled extensively with her husband around the country, as documented in the many photos she took through the years. They settled in Hubbard in 1954 but continued to pipeline even after their children were born and Margie would join Robert in the summers with the kids after school was out. Margie made many friends and memories on these journeys, and never forgot either. Margie eventually travelled a little less and sought employment with the Mexia State School where she worked from 1975 to 1977. She became an active member of the Eastern Star and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Margie continued her many friendships, and always looked forward to visits and phone calls with those she loved. She is survived by her sons, Ronald Garrett, and Larry Garrett and wife, Pauline, all of Hubbard; daughter, Teresa Garrett and partner, Crystal Wyers, of Santa Fe, Texas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
