Cloud County Cemetery Book, Volume 4, page 135 63 yr 3 mo 24 da *********************** Glasco Sun, May 27, 1904, page 1: Obituary James Fletcher was born on the 28th day of January, 1840, at Crawford, Lanark county, Scotland, and died on the 21st day of May, 1904, aged 64 years, 3 months and 23 days. Deceased came to America in 1857. In 1866 he located in Illinois, and was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Pilcher on December 18, 1867. There were born to the union eight children, four of whom are yet living, viz: Charles, Byron, Lloyd and Eva. In the fall of 1873 the deceased and family came to Kansas, and lived near Delphos until 1875, when they settled on a homestead seven miles northeast of Glasco where they resided until his death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. B.F. McMillan at the home on afternoon of the 23rd. Mr. Fletcher had lived in the Presbyterian faith, was accounted a good man according to human judgment, and many friends were present. The Glasco G.A.R. Post attended, and their beautiful ritual service was performed at the grave. The family return their sincere thanks to all who remembered them so kindly during their affliction and in the bereavement. ******************** Links to parents sent by Stone Branches (#47411175) ============================================= Corporal, Company A, 144th New York Infantry. Enlisted as a private on August 15, 1862 in Tompkinsville, New York and mustered in September 27, 1862. Promoted November 24, 1863 to corporal.
