Funeral services for Elsie Svoboda, 90, Linwood, were held Dec. 19 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Abie. Mrs. Svoboda died Dec. 16, 2000, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler. Father Thomas Lux conducted the 10:30 a.m. service. Music was provided by the SS Peter and Paul Choir, accompanied by Martha Divis, organist. Pallbearers were Joseph Chromy, Doug Brtek, Gene Egr, Gary Humlicek, Bill Chromy Jr. and Bob Juranek. Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Linwood. Visition was held Dec. 18 from 1 to 8 p.m. at Svoboda Funeral Home north chapel in Schuyler. It continued from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Rosary was prayed at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Dec. 18. Elise was born August 4, 1910, in Butler County to James and Mary (Vidlak) Jakub. She attended a rural Butler County school. Elise married Adolph E. Svoboda in Schuyler on September 23, 1930. Her husband died August 8, 1987. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. A homemaker, she worked at Campbell Soup Company in Fremont for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Edith (Mrs. Ray) Chromy, Linwood; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gladys Faltys, Schuyler. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Alan Chromy; one infant grandson, Ray Chromy Jr.; one sister, Amelia Juranek; and two brothers, LaVerne and Edward Jakub.
