Edith Chromy, 87, of Linwood, died Sunday, December 17, 2023, at St. Joseph's Villa in David City. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, December 19, 2023, 10:00 A.M. Divine Mercy Parish -St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Schuyler Con-celebrants Rev. Gerry Gonderinger Rev Jairo Enrique Congote Visitation 9 am with Rosary 9:30 am, prior to Mass at the church Refreshments immediately following mass Committal 12:30 P.M. in St. Mary's Cemetery, Linwood, Nebraska Edith was born July 12, 1936 in Butler county to Adolph and Elsie (Jakub) Svoboda. She attended Dist. 10, Linwood elementary, and Linwood High School. On August 4, 1953, Edith married Ray Chromy at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Linwood. Edith helped on the farm and also worked at Schuyler Memorial Hospital. Edith was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler, and Women of Divine Mercy. Edith, who was known to everyone as a very sweet lady, enjoyed polka music, watching football and baseball games, and taking care of her chickens and her cats. Edith is survived by her daughter Irene Chromy of Omaha, brother-in-law Dr. James (Carolyn) Chromy of Raleigh, North Carolina, grandsons Jared Chromy, Zachary Chromy, Rylan Chromy, Doug (Laura) Brtek, and granddaughter Lisa (Sean) Wiseman, nieces Jamie (Rick) Miner and Leslie (Jim) Poli, and nephew Paul (Debra) Chromy, cousins Bill and Teri Chromy and many other cousins. Edith was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Elsie Svoboda, husband Ray in 2014, infant son Raymond, sons Alan and Joe Chromy, in laws Jim and Agnes Chromy.
