Amelia M. Juranek, 87, Schuyler, died March 30, 2000, at Butler County Health Care Center, David City. Funeral services were April 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Schuyler. Father William Whelan officiated. Burial was at the Schuyler Cemetery. Visition was April 3 from 8:30 to 10:15 was a.m., all at Svoboda Funeral Home north chapel in Schuyler. Music provided by Jo Groulik, soloist, accompanied by Edith Nepper, organist. Pallbearers were Carrol Jakub, Leo Juranek Jr., Galen Juranek, Francis Faltys, Bill Juranek and Dan Juranek. Amelia was born July 15, 1912, at Schuyler to James and Mary (Vidlak) Jakub. She graduated from Schuyler High School in 1929. She married Bedrick Juranek, May 29, 1933, St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Schuyler. She worked as a seamstress at Miller and Paine Department Store, Lincoln, until it closed. She is survived by a son, Larry, David City; a daughter, Jean Phillips, Beaverton, Ore.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladyce Faltys, Schuyler and Elsie Svoboda, Linwood. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son Freddy; two brothers, LaVerne and Edward Jakub.
