Bio

Services for Melvin Montgomery, 70, of Slaton will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Englunds Chapel with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. He died Thursday, May 9, 2002. He was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Littlefield and attended school in Fluvanna. He had worked as a lineman for BK Electric in Seymour, Bill Farley Electric of Abilene, the city of Brownfield Electric Company and Testor's Inc. of Brownfield. He was a Baptist and a song leader for many years. A daughter, Roxie Lynn, died in 1973. Survivors include a son, Larry of Seymour; a daughter, Charlotte Miller of California; two sisters, Pat Montgomery of Fort Worth and Mildred Wilson of Grand Prairie; four brothers, Roy Lee, Willie and Gradie, all of Slaton, and Raymond of Mansfield, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
