The Cheyenne Star, Thursday, January 22, 1948 OBITUARY Sarah Lane Hensley was born January 2, 1868 and died January 12, 1848. Funeral services for Mrs. Hensley were conducted from the Durham school auditorium Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a large crowd of friends. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery under the direction of Scroggins Funeral Home of Cheyenne. Survivors include the husband, T. J. Hensley, two daughters, Mrs. Nannie Lutz, Mound Valley, Kansas and Rosetta Boswell of Cheyenne and two sons, Guy Hensley of Durham and Landon Hensley of Crawford; two sisters Mrs. Mary Osborne of Thomas, Oklahoma and Mrs. Lillie Cook of Arapaho; two brothers, Quinn Walker and Addison Walker, both of Thomas, Okla. Mrs. Hensley was a member of the Nazarene church at Roll. She was a pioneer of the Durham and Crawford communities and played her part in the development of the community. She was at one time post mistress of the Clifford post office and was active in the organization of the Clifford school district. EULOGY (A Eulogy to my friend, Mrs. T. J. Hensley, dedicated to her grandchildren, some of whom are mine.) A lady has passed to her reward. As she lay in her casket, her beautiful face portrayed the worthwhile things of life in which she believed She was a friend to the friendless, a mother to the motherless, a neighbor with limitless boundaries, who never shirked a task. A pioneer trail-blazer who never compromised with evil, a builder of schools and churches, faithful to their trust and care. A Nazarene who walked and talked with a lowly Nazarene who blazed trails many centuries ago. A grandmother, who at the age of seventy-nine, after doing the family laundry, walked over two miles, facing a snow blizzard to reach her home, because small grandchildren awaited her ministering hands. Truly, a lady has passed our way. - Mrs. R. B. Jones, Reydon, Okla.
