Bio

Sister Mary Clare Steuter, age 97, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Monday morning, December 5, 1994, at Holy Family Convent. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 1994, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem. will offiicate at the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at Holy Family Cemetery. The former Margaret Steuter was born March 24, 1897, in Monterey, Neb., daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Glaha Steuter. She entered the Convent in 1916 and professed her vows in 1919. Sister Mary Clare earned a diploma from Holy Family School of Nursing, Manitowoc. She was a certified X-Ray Technician and Junior Physical Therapist, and served as a registered nruse, x-ray technician and/or physical therapist at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, St. Francis Memorial Hospital, West Point, Neb. and as a nurse assistant at St. Joseph Retirement Community, West Point, Neb. She planned and directed the construction of an adjustable x-ray table which was patented in 1933. She also served as an x-ray technician at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville, Ohio. After retiring from health care ministry in 1979, she has been residing at Holy Family Convent. Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister, Mrs. Crecentia Halbur, Wheat Ridge, Colo.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Holy Convent Chapel.
