Herald Coaster, February 7, 1992: Funeral services for Louis Joe Buchala, 79, of Sealy, were held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy. The Rev. Jesse Linam celebrated the funeral mass and rite of committal. Burial was at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. A parish rosary was recited 7 p.m. Monday at Knesek Bros./Etlinger Funeral Chapel in Sealy. Mr. Buchala died Saturday. He was born June 2, 1912 in San Felipe. His parents were John A. and Aloise Pavlicek Buchala. He was raised in the San Felipe-Frydek area and attended school in Frydek. Mr. Buchala served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He married the former Lillie Sliva in Frydek on Nov. 17, 1942. A service technician for Western Auto and White Auto in Sealy, he later worked for the Citizens State Bank for 19 years in maintenance. Mr. Buchala was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy, the Sealy American Legion Post 442, and a 50-year member of the Katolicky Delnik (Catholic Workman). Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Lillie Buchala of Sealy; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Glenn Schilhab in Rosenberg; a son, Gary Buchala of Houston; a sister, Albina Ermis of Frydek; and grandchildren, Brian and Arron Schilhab, and Allen, Kimberly, and Jeremy Buchala. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Annie Buchala; and three brothers, Willie, Emil, and Frank Buchala. Pallbearers were Milton Ermis, Leroy Zapalac, Harold Pyka, Dominic Kutra, Clem Buchala, and Willie Kutra Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Jodie Kalinowski, Floyd Ermis, Jesse Wright, and Steve Sliva. Funeral services were held under the direction of the Knesek Bros./Etlinger Funeral Home Chapel in Sealy.
