Thursday, February 3, 2011 12:00 am Funeral services for Albina Ermis, 96, of Frydek were held on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek with Rev. Norman Ermis, Msgr. Alois Pavlicek and Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal and Deacon Jerome Losack assisting. Interment followed in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Frydek. Serving as pallbearers were Wilbert Saha, Gary Buchala, Ronnie Ross, Frankie Johnston, Bennie Ondruch and Henry Mlcak. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons Greg Stockard, Mark Stockard, Vincent Ermis and Jason Ermis. Albina was born in Fayetteville to parents John and Aloise (Pavlicek) Buchala. She was raised in the San Felipe/Frydek area and attended school in Frydek. Albina was joined in marriage to Mr. Emil Ermis on Oct. 20, 1936 with a ceremony held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek. In 1948 Albina and Emil bought the grocery store now known as Ermis' and they ran the store together until he passed away on Jan. 29, 1979. Albina continued to run the store until she semi-retired in 1982 with her son Milton taking over, but she assisted in the running of the operation until 2009. Albina was a true matriarch. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was active in K.J.Z.T., Catholic Daughters and the Alter Society. Albina Ermis passed away on Jan. 28, 2011 in Frydek. Albina is survived by her children Margie Stockard and husband Tom of Houston, Victor Ermis and wife Jerry of Cypress, Floyd Ermis and wife Sandy of Fitchburg, Wis., and Milton Ermis and wife Vernell of Frydek; grandchildren Denise Cooper and husband Darrell of Victoria, Greg Stockard and wife Lisa of Katy, Terese Landry and husband Matt of Katy, Patrice Rodriguez and husband Arnold of Spring, Mark Stockard and wife Paige of Katy, Danielle Ermis of Dayton, Ohio, Vincent Ermis of North Richland Hills, Gina Lima and husband Ernesto of Glendale, Wis. and Jason Ermis and wife Shelley of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren Trey Cooper and wife Annie, Thomas Cooper, Julie Cooper, Travis Stockard, Hunter Stockard, Katie Cardenas, Lauren Cardenas, Steven Cardenas, Nathan Rodriguez, Monica Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Kirby Stockard, Matthew Stockard, Claire Stockard, Mia Lima, Liana Lima and Nina Lima; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank her caregivers Deanna and Lillie and her very special friends, Barbara and Roxanne. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Aloise Buchala, husband Emil Ermis and brothers Emil Buchala, William Buchala, Frank Buchala, Louis Buchala and infant sister Anna Buchala. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 10471 Grotto Road, Sealy, Texas 77474. "As difficult as it is for her family and many friends who loved her and who are left to carry on, she would want us to honor her memory by living each day to the fullest in joyous respect for the wonderful life she led." Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Home in Sealy.
