Sealy News, January 2003: Funeral services for Agnes Theresa Dycus were held Monday, Jan. 13, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy. Officiating were Father Octavio Muguerza, Father Tim Bucek, and Father David Dubois. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Clayton Smaistrla, Eric Schavrda, Christian Kugel, Charles Dycus, Jonah Dycus, Kellen Kocurek, and Major Bradley Bird. The honorary pallbearer was Lt. Col. John D. Bird II. Interment was at the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery in Sealy. She was born on Oct. 11, 1912 to Joseph and Frances Pavlicek Orsak. On Oct. 11, 1937, she married Charley Dycus and together they built a home that was centered on the love of God and family. She spent many hours praying for her family, friends, church, and for peace in the world. In each of her children she instilled a strong sense of the importance of God and family. Agnes Theresa Dycus died on Jan. 11, 2003. She is survived by eight children and their spouses, Marie and Joseph Pattison, Dolores Kocurek, Dale and Carla Dycus, Sue and Billy Schavrda, Eva and John Bird, Patricia Dycus, Kathy and Fred Kugel, and Jacquelyn and Thomas Smaistrla; grandchildren, Nancy Buy, Gina Pattison, Sheila Pattison Zengler, Corrie Pattison-Fakes, Deidra Mearns, Kellen Kocurek, Christopher Kocurek, Amy Bentke, Jennifer Janzcak, Charles Dycus, Jonah Dycus, Eric Schavrda, Lt. Col. John D. Bird II, Major Bradley Bird, Sara Robins, Christian Kugel, Gabrielle Kugel, Clayton Smaistrla, Neysa Smaistrla; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five sisters, and three brothers.
