Ord Resident Dies After Year's illness Last rites were conducted by Fr. Stanley Gorak for Tom E. Flakus, from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Thursday, May 10. He died after a year's illness the preceding Tuesday. Pallbearers were Clifford and Irvin Flakus, Michael Rolland and Enos Zulkoski and Leon Osentowski, Burial was in Ord Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Flakus was born to Michael and Mary Kozeal Flakus in Platte County, Nebr., Dec.15, 1883. He came to Valley County when a year old. After his marriage to Frances Zulkoski at Elyria, May 28, 1907, the couple farmed in that and the Burwell community. In 1926 they moved to Watertown, S.D. and in 1951 to California. Seven years later they returned to Ord. Survivors are: the widow: daughters- Valeria Degnan and Lydia Harrison of Minneapolis; sons- Alfonso of Lake Norton, S.D. Sylvan of Sioux Falls, S.D. Kenneth of Fair Oaks, Calif., 15 grand children and three great grand daughters; sisters- Mrs. Frank Blaha of Ord and Mrs. John Kusek of Portland, Ore. one brother, Joe of Grand Island.
