CENTRAL CITY - Don L. "Bub" Bridger, 87, of Central City died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery near St. Edward. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Lone Tree Post 6 of Central City. Don and his twin, Donna, were born May 25, 1925, in Lincoln, NE to Roy and Eulalia (Zuerlein) Bridger. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Darlene Bridger of Central City; four sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Joyce Bridger of Hansen, Randy and Marvis Bridger of Fullerton, Jim and Vicki Bridger of Aurora, CO and Bill Bridger of Hastings; two daughters and sons-in–law, Peggy and Kent Kuhn of Holdrege, and Pat and Larry Clifton of Stillwater, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Ruby Bridger of Belgrade. Don grew up in the Fullerton area. He entered the United States Army August 22, 1945 in Ft. Leavenworth, KS and was honorably discharged at a Staff Sgt in 1947. He was united in marriage to Darlene A. Horn on January 19, 1948 in Council Bluffs, IA. Don farmed in Nance County, Cedar Rapids, Grafton, and Oakland areas. The couple moved in 1960 to Central City, where Don worked for Marv Houdek at Minneapolis Moline. He tried retiring in 1987, but decided to go back and worked for Christensen Cattle, Jerry Betts, and Greg Royle. He also drove a truck for over 35 years. Don was a past member of the American Legion. He loved antique John Deere tractors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Bridger and David Bridger; two sisters, Arnette Furby and Donna Coufal; one brother, Lynn Bridger; one granddaughter, Traci Bridger; and two great-grandchildren, William Wolanski and Malek Clifton.
