Biography by Jeanne Pritchett (#46990964): Josef and Anna Shalon, with their son John, immigrated to the U.S. from their home in Pilzen, Bohemia in 1871 and settled on a farmstead near Nimburg, Nebr. They lived in a dugout for many years. They had children: John, James, Mary, Anna, Joseph, Antonia, and Agnes. Brainard, Oct. 28 – Recorded in last week's Brainard Clipper were deaths of ten persons, residents of Brainard and Loma and that vicinity, all deaths resultant from influenza-pneumonia… On October 14 occurred the deaths of Mrs. Anna Shalon of Brainard, aged 75 years, and Mrs. Joseph Petrzilka of Loma, 49 years of age.
