Born in the village of Vomice, town of Ivancice, county of Brno, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic), the son of Frantisek and Theresie (Antonin) Horacek. According to his probate file he lived in Center Township, Butler County, Nebr., died October 2, 1901, and was survived by his widow, Clara, and nine children: John F. Horacek, Anton Horacek, Rudolph Horacek, Frank Horacek, Joseph Horacek, Anna Chermock, Frances Horacek, and Agnes Horacek. Father of Anton, Frank A., Frances K. (Vavra), Agnes (Osmera), Joseph A., John F., Anna B. (Cermak), Rudolph. Names of parents and children provided by Cynthia Duris Hirst (# 48592204). _________ Brainard Clipper , October 5, 1901, p. 6, col. 3 John Horacek died at his home two miles northwest of Brainard, Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1901. His death was rather sudden. In the morning he arose bright and early and went about doing his morning chores complaining a little of not feeling very well. After finishing up his work he turned his cattleout in the stalks and herded them a few hours. Upon returning he went and laid down on the bed to rest himself. He fell asleep, as his wife supposed, but on going to the bed to awaken him she found that he had fallen into a sleep from which there is no awakening. Deceased was sixty years of age and leaves a wife and eight children, three girls and five boys to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father He was also a member, in good standing, of the Catholic Workman and carried insurance to the amount of $1,000. Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity curch in Brainard Friday at 11 o'clock a. m., conducted by Rev. Father Klein, after which interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.
