Bio

LADMAN, HARRY R.—Harry R. Ladman was born in Fillmore county on June 6, 1902, to Joseph and Antonia Ladman Sr. He was the oldest of six children. Harry Spent his early years on the farm and attended country school in Saline county. As a young man he helped work his father’s farm. On March 9, 1926, he was united in marriage to Helen M. Doupnik in Exeter. To them no children were born. The first 10 years of their marriage they lived on a farm near Milligan. From there they moved to a farm north of Fairmont where they lived until poor health forced Harry into retirement in 1968. They then moved to their present home in Geneva. Harry missed his tractor and the farm and thus found employment with the Hidden Hills Country Club, where he took care of the grounds. He was content to once again be on a tractor. After seven years he was forced to leave his job because of failing health. On March 9, 1976, Harry and Helen were fortunate to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. On July 24, 1980, Harry passed away at the Fillmore County hospital at the age of 78 years, one month and 18 days. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sr.; his mother, Antonia; and brother, Joseph Jr. He is survived by his wife, Helen of Geneva; his brothers, Milo and Leo Ladman of Milligan; his sisters, Mrs. Alba (Helen) Burrier of York and Lillian Ladman of Milligan; nephews, nieces and a host of relatives and friends. Harry will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. Services were held at 10 a.m., July 29, 1980, at Farmer and Son funeral home with Pastor Wilson officiating. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 31 July 1980 page 5.
