The following information, and birth date and place, which differ from the obituary, was provided by Contributor Jason Cadek #47017020: Born 12 Feb 1879 in Bezdekov to Jan Ladman and Barbora Slezak. They were married on 25 Jun 1878. The family emigrated, leaving Hamburg aboard the Berlin bound for New York on 03 May 1879. The ship landed in Glasgow, Scotland. The family transferred to the Anchoria, departing Glasgow and arriving in New York on 20 May 1879. ____ From The Milligan Review, December 3, 1948, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney Joseph Ladman was born March 17, 1876 in Pisek, Czechoslovakia, and with his parents came to this country as an infant. In the year 1902 he was united in marriage to Antonia Horlivy and to this union were born four sons and two daughters. His mother preceded him in death in 1932 and his father in 1934. Two of his brothers and one sister died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, sons, Harry of Fairmont, Joe of Geneva, Leo, Milo, and daughters, Lillian and Helen at home. Surviving also are grandchildren Eugene Cone?? [last letters illegible] and Doris Sadowski of Milligan, and Everett Ladman of Geneva; brothers, Emil of Okla., James of Mont.; sisters, Anna of Okla. and Mary of Washington, D. C. and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Ladman lived all his life on the same farm. He had been in failing health some time and died Thursday morning, Oct. 28, 1948 at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 11 days. Funeral services took place at 2:00 from the Milligan Auditorium with Rev. C. C. Stirn delivering the sermon and the Milligan trio, the song service. Burial was in the Milli-South (sic) Cemetery.
