Born in the village of Hartikovice, town of Namest, county of Znojmo, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). '''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), April 11, 1935, p. 4, col. 5 DEATH OF JOSEPH HLADKY Long-Time Resident of County Passed Away Sunday. Bruo, April 9 – Joseph Hladky, aged 86 years, passed away at the home of his son, Anton Hladky, near David City Sunday, following an illness with pneumonia, complicated by infirmities of old age. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from the home to St. Anthony’s church, Rev. Father Kvitek, O.S.B., saying the Requiem Mass at 10 o’clock and conducting the burial service. Interment was in St. Anthony’s cemetery, beside the grave of his wife, who preceded him in death six months ago. The pallbearers were Mr. Hladky’s six grandsons, Louis, Milo, Ed, Jim, Adolf and Joe Hladky. Those in attendance at the funeral from a distance were Frank Hladky of Central City, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hladky and children from Seward, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hladky and children and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coufal from Bee. Mr. Hladky was born in Moravia, December 2, 1849. He was married to Frantiska Matejcka. To them were born five sons and three daughters. They are Joseph of Seward, Frank of Central City, John of Abie, Anton of David City, Louis of Bee, Mrs. Mary Extine of Linwood, Mrs. Sophie Rolenc of Abie and Mrs. Anna Sloup of Millerton. There are 39 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. On retiring from farm life Mr. and Mrs. Hladky made their home in Bruno for many years, until old age necessitated their being cared for by others. Mr. Hladky was a devout and faithful member of the Catholic church and had many friends.
