Bio

Eva Darlene Parberry, 93, of Gering, formally of Mitchell, died January 20, 1998 at Northfield Villa Med. Center. Funeral services were held on Monday at 2 pm at the Federated Church in Mitchell with the Rev. Randy Meyers officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Morrill. Eva was born October 20, 1904 at Surprise, Nebraska to Gustavus A. and Maryland E. (Kelly) Parberry. at an early age (Fall of 1905) her family moved from Surprise to North of Morrill, Nebraska where she received her early education. Graduating from Morrill High School in 1922. In 1908 her dad "Gus" bought a Merry-Go-Around and traveled with a carnival through out Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Later, she took tickets and played the organ for silent movies theaters her parents operated in Morrill and Lyman. Eva married Howard e. Cooley, December 4, 1923 at Cheyenne wyoming. She was a good mother, housewife and helped with her husband while they farmed in the Victory Hill and Dutch Flats areas most of her life. Moving to Mitchell in 198- and to Northfield Villa in 199-. Along with her husband they enjoyed many years of bowling, fishing, and boating around the area. Eva is remembered for her sewing for family and friends and as a dedicated farm wife. she delivered Meals on Wheels to those who couldn't get out. Eva was a member of the Federated Churches of Mitchell, Nebraska, belonging to the CC Circle and a Sunday Class for many years. A long time member of the Mitchell Rebecca IOOF Lodge and a member of the Dutch Flats Birthday Club. Survivirs include daughters and son in law, Dorothy and Victor Bauer of Mitchell, and Marilyn and Mervyn Gompert of Sebring, Florida, a daughter in law, Charlotte Cooley of Morrill. Sister in law; Blanche Parberry of Cranston, Rhode Island, and Esther Parberry of Wheatridge, Colorado. She also has 12 grandchildren, 30 great_grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, Howard, a son, Charles E., and infant daughter, Hazel, an infant sister, Violet, brothers Edward, Harold, and Howard proceeded her in death. 2 Grandchildren also proceeded her in death.
