The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), December 12, 1963, p. 1B, col. 1 & 2 Funeral Services Held for Louis J. Vrana Funeral services were conducted on Friday, Dec. 6, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Abie, for Louis J. Vrana, 84, who died Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the David City Hospital shortly after suffering a stroke. Rosary was recited Thursday evening at the Svoboda Chapel in Schuyler. The Rev. Michael Danko officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Ed Hein, Jr., Adrian Hein, Ralph Hein, Reynold Johnson, Anthony Prochaska and Ervin Matulka, all grandsons. Burial was in the Abie Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Vrana, the son of Joseph and Mary Gruntorad Vrana, was born Dec. 31, 1878, in Butler County. He attended the rural schools. A retired farmer, Mr. Vrana spent his entire life in the Abie community. He was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. His first wife, the former Anna Cink, died Oct. 3, 1915. On Nov. 21, 1916, he was married to Mary Frana at Plasi. He is survived by his wife, Mary; four daughters, Mrs. Emil (Adeline) Prochaska of Abie, Mrs. John (Lillian) Kopecky of Linwood, Mrs. Ed (Lucille) Hein of David City and Mrs. Tillie Ustohal of Schuyler; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Kirchner of Omaha.
