Memorial Services for Mr. J. C. O'Dell Dean, 81, of Tulsa, Oklahoma will be held on Saturday, September 15th, 2012 at 11:00 a. m. in the Calvary Baptist Church of Tishomingo, Oklahoma with Dr. Rex Clayton officiating. A private burial was held earlier that same day in the Coleman Cemetery in Coleman, Oklahoma with Military Honors provided by The Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard from Ada, Oklahoma. Mr. Dean passed away on September 12th, at the University Village in Tulsa. J. C. was born on January 23rd, 1931 in Trinidad, Texas to Dennis James Dean and Mary Jane Dean. He was the oldest of five children. He atteded grade school in Folsom, Oklahoma and graduated from Coleman High School in 1948. After, he attended Murray State College in Tishomingo. J. C. served in the United States Marine Corp from 1952 until 1954. He received a Purple Heart during his service and was Honorably Discharged. Sports were a passion and baseball and golf his favorites. He enjoyed manicuring golf courses and spending timw with his family. He married Billie Jo Martin on February 5th, 1954. To this union, two sons were born, Dennis Jay and Russell Martin Dean. He worked for the Phillips Petroleum Company for 32 years. J. C. lived in Booker, Texas for more than 20 years, then moved to Evansville,Indiana, until 2008. He was a member of the Bethel Temple Community church in Evansville. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Angela Denise. Mr. Dean is survived by his wife Coy, of the home; two sons, Dennis J. Dean and his wife Gaynell of Tulsa and Russell M. Dean and his wife Tamara of Weatherford, Texas; four grandchildren, Jason Dean and his wife Shanna, Jennifer Dean, Darcy Dean and Devon Dean; two great-granddaughters, Caitlin and Elise; his brother, Delton Dean and his wife Lue of Coleman, Oklahoma; three sisters, Janie Callen of Fillmore, Oklahoma, Anna McArthur and her husband Richard of Tishomingoa and Manie Darter of Ardmore, Oklahoma; other relatives and friends. Pallbearers for the service will be: Matt Dean, Mark Dean, Mitch Dean, Larry Darter, Tommy Darter and Jackie Lynn Callen. Honorary Bearers will be: J. T. Davison, W. T. Shipman, F. G. Morrow, Jr., Jesse Dean, David Daniel and Leon Dean.
