Jimmie “Delton” Dean, age 83, passed from this life on February 8, 2020 at Blue River Nursing Home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Delton was born on July 22, 1936 in Folsom, Oklahoma to Dennis and Mary Jane Tipton Dean. He was a graduate of Coleman High School in 1954 and spent all of his life calling Coleman home. On November 2, 1956 he ran off to Clayton, New Mexico with the love of his life, Lue Melton, to get married and have spent 63 years of wonderful marriage together since. Delton was a kid at heart when it came to getting behind the wheel of a car; he always wanted to just put the pedal to the metal and make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. He loved going to local ball games and supporting the kids, especially his grandchildren. Delton also enjoyed horse racing and fishing but wasn’t a fan of the cold water. Every time someone would ask if he was working hard today his response would be, “I’m Just Piddling.” His family would tell you he really just wanted to be the boss and tell other people what to do and how to do it but not actually have to do it. Being able to give was such a joy to Delton, he had a garden and could grow anything and everything. He could get 55 gallons a day up with how much okra he grew that he just loved to give to people. Delton was also the master of picking a watermelon by just one thump to it. His granddaughter Kenya said that he would read the Farmer’s Almanac and tell her exactly what to do when it came to raising babies and boy was it accurate, she said. A real dinner, not for Delton, he preferred the sweets over anything. Visiting with people and spending time with his family is what he enjoyed doing most of all and he will be forever missed. Delton is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Mary Jane Dean; brother, J.C. Dean and sister, Manie Darter. Those he leaves to cherish his memories are his wife of 63 years, Lue Dean of Coleman; children, Mark Dean of Coleman, Matt Dean and wife Lisa of Coleman, Mitch Dean of Coleman; 6 grandchildren, Megan Holder and husband Jason, Kenya Wisdom and husband Trey, Blake Dean and wife Kristin, Acey Dean, Rylee Dean, Jerney Dean; 9 great grandchildren, Cadence Holder, Sadie Holder, Raylee Holder, Taylen Wisdom, Stetson Wisdom, Braxton Dean, Silas Dean, Cayden Dean, Rosalee Dean; sisters, Annie McArthur and husband Richard of Tishomingo, Janie Callen of Milburn and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will deeply miss him. Funeral Services to honor and celebrate the life of Delton Dean will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Folsom Free Will Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Coleman Cemetery. Family hour will be Wednesday 6:00 – 8:00 at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home.
