The Mena Weekly, Mena, AR, Thursday, July 17, 1958: Miss Sarah J. Lawrence: Funeral service for Miss Sarah Jane Lawrence of the Shady community who died Wednesday morning, was held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the New Hope Baptist church with the Rev. sam Sherman officiating. Burial at Shady cemetery was directed by Beasley-Wood funeral home. Miss Lawrence was born June 29, 1878 in the Shady community and spent her entire life there. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist church. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mandy Barlow and Mrs. J.D. Whisenhunt, Shady, three brothers, W.F. Lawrence, Bethel, Okla. I.A. Lawrence, Talihina, Okla and E.P. Lawrence, Shady.
