The Mena Weekly Star, Thursday, March 15, 1951 D.T. Lawrence: Funeral service for Daniel T. Lawrence, 70 year old resident of Shady, who died Thursday, March 8, was held Saturday morning at 10;30 at Shady, with the Rev. Jim Liles officiating. Burial was in the Shady cemetery, under the direction of the Geyer funeral home. Pallbearers were Carrol Ward, Houston Blanton, John Peoples, Mitchell Cogburn, Scott Cogburn and Fred Lein. Mr. Lawrence was born January 30, 1881 in the Shady community of Polk county, Ark. He spent his entire life in Polk county, except for a few visits outside. He has been a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. He was never married. He leaves to mourn his passing three brothers, Frank Lawrence of Bethel, OK. Alec Lawrence of Whitesboro, OK. and E.P. Lawrence of Shady; three sisters; Mandy Barlow of Mena, Sarah Lawrence of Shady and Effie Whisenhunt also of Shady. He also leaves nine nephews and 10 nieces, three of whom he helped raise. Claud and Freeman Lawrence and Alta Ward.
