Birth year calculated from age at death. Born in the village of Kozohlody, county of Caslav, Bohemia, Austria (now in the Czech Republic). Emigrated to the United States with his wife and children on the SS Bark Schiller, which arrived in Baltimore, Maryland from Bremen, Germany on June 17, 1869. The passenger list includes Joh Woboril, age 50 years, farmer; Maria, 42; Maria, 20; Josef, 17; Barb, 15; Cathe., 13; Antonie, 7; Wenzel, 6; and Josef, 5. Settled in Butler County, Nebr. where the family is listed in Skull Creek precinct on the 1870 census: John Voboril, farmer, age 52 years, born Bohemia; Mary, 44, Bohemia; Catharine, 14, Bohemia; Joseph, 9, Bohemia; and James, 7, Bohemia. In 1880 they were in Linwood precinct: John Wobocil, farmer, age 58 years, born Bohemia; Mary, 48, Bohemia; Barbary, 22, Bohemia (the census notes she was deaf & dumb); James, 18, Bohemia; and Joseph, 16, Bohemia. According to his probate file he died in Butler County on August 5, 1887 (contradicting the date inscribed on his gravestone). His heirs on January 11, 1898 were his widow Marie, of Douglas County, Nebr., and children Anna Fendrick, of Butler County; Marie Myers, of Omaha; Josephine Spatz, of Butler County; Katie Levy, of Omaha; Barbara Voboril, of Butler County; Antonia Kement, of Omaha; Vaclav Voboril, of Omaha; and Joseph Voboril, of Butler County.
