Bio

Emigrated to the United States with his wife and children in 1873. The passenger list for the ship Calabria , which arrived in New York City from Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland includes the following family from Germany: Martin Spatz, age 55, blacksmith; Magd., 50, wife; and children Barbara, 11; Franz, 8; and Josef, 5. According to his probate file he died February 4, 1895 and was survived by six children: Wenzel and Anton Spatz, both of Skull Creek township, Butler County, Nebr.; Anna Straka, of Vienna, Austria; George Spatz of Linwood township, Butler County; Barbara Winkler of Holt County, Nebr.; and Frank Spatz, of Skull Creek township.
