Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Wednesday, 10 January 1923 The funeral of Mrs. Henry Geddes, Sr., well known resident of St. Libory, who passed away at her farm home last Friday, was held on Monday morning, at 10 o'clock, from the Catholic church in St. Libory and was very largely attended, the church being packed to overflowing with the many bereaved relatives and friends who desired to pay their last tribute of respect to the departed one. Rev. Father Kaufmann, the pastor, officiated at the requiem high mass. Mrs. Gerdes, nee Martha Franssen, was born in Hanover, Germany, on July 8, 1861, and was aged 61 years, 5 months and 27 days at the time of her death. She was united in marriage with Henry Gerdes, Sr., on March 4, 1878, at Shanon, Ills., and they then came to Nebraska. To this union were born eleven children, two of whom have preceded the mother in death. The surviving children are: Mrs. Anna Cronin, Herman, William, John, Harry, Jr., Mrs. Martha Volkl, Mrs. Sena Petersen, Mrs. Rose Shaffer, and Florence, all of St. Libory. Besides these children and her bereaved husband, she is also survived by five brothers and one sister. Interment took place in the St. Libory cemetery. Thank You, diaNEB for the above obituary.
