Bio

From the St. Paul Republican, March 30, 1905, page 4, transcribed by Linda Berney: Death of Herman Franssen, Sr. - Herman Franssen, one of the first and most prominent residents in the vicinity of St. Libory, passed away at his home this morning, a mile northwest of St. Libory, after a two months' sickness of Brights disease. He was well known in this section and was very highly esteemed. Mr. and Mrs. Franssen have reared a family of five sons and two daughters. Mr. Franssen leaves to mourn his loss his ever faithful wife, his two daughters, Mrs. Henry Gerdes and Mrs. George Behnen, and sons, Herman, John, Henry, Joseph and William. The deceased remained conscious until the last minute and all members of the family were at his bedside when he breathed his last. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 9:30 from the home and services will be held at the Catholic church at St. Libory. Interment will be made in the St. Libory cemetery
