Birth year calculated from age at death. Jos. Hamza (age 32, laborer) and Maria Hamza (22), both born Bohemia, emigrated to the United States aboard the SS Ohio which arrived in Baltimore, Maryland from Bremen, Germany on September 19, 1873. Other passengers included the Josef Koutnk and Anna (Prochaska) Koutnik family, the Jan Barta and Mariji (Pavel) Barta family, and the Frantisek Krenk and Katerina (Pipek) Krenk family. According to his probate file he was survived by his wife Maria and six children: Joseph, age 11 years; Mary, 9; Josephine "Josie," 7; Francis "Fannie," 4; Frank, 3; and Zebadie "Betty," nine months.
