Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), June 19, 1941, p. 1, col. 2 JOHN F. MEISTER DIED WAS LIFE - LONG RESIDENT Funeral Services Were Held at St. Francis Church Garrison, June 16 - John F. Meister, aged 52 years, three months and seven days, passed away at a hospital in Hastings Thursday morning, June 12, at six o'clock following an illness from pneumonia of five days, although he had been in failing health for 2½ months. Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning from the home to St. Francis Catholic church, Center, with the pastor, Rev. Father Piewa, officiating. Music was by St. Francis church choir with Mrs. Henry Vandenberg organist. The pallbearers were John Schaddeg, Jerry Kirby, Charles Helgoth, Edward Zegers, James Mazanec and George Behne. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery. John F. Meister was born at Bellwood March 5, 1889, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Meister. He was united in marriage to Miss Frieda Daro November 18, 1931, at St. Francis church, Center. To them four children were born, George, Lee, Jerry and Dorothy, all of whom, with their mother, survive as do six sisters, Mrs. Luther Shively, Mrs. Fremont Wagner, Mrs. Mary DeFord, Mrs. Anna Zegers, Mrs. William Zegers, Mrs. Frank Helgoth and Mrs. Elizabeth Brown in addition to a number of other relatives. Mr. Meister spent his lifetime farming in Butler county, where he had many close friends. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic church. ____ Card of Thanks - We wish to thank all those who were so thoughtful in our late bereavement through loss of our beloved husband and father.
