''''''''' The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), May 23, 1963, p. 6, col. 5 Services Held For Lifetime Rising City Resident, Mrs. Haney Mrs. Laura Haney, 81, a lifetime resident of the Rising City vicinity, died Thursday, May 16, at St. Mary's Hospital in Columbus, where she had been three days following a cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral services were conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Shelby Monday morning, May 20. Msgr. John Kean officiated. Relatives attending the services were from Omaha, Lincoln, Fremont and Callaway and Denver, Colo., Council Bluffs, Iowa, Soda Springs, Idaho, and South Dakota. Pallbearers were Cletus, Arthur and Everett Haney, Dean Harris, Charles Branigan and Elmo Stryker. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, David City. Laura Mae Haney, daughter of Bruce and Mary Carpenter, was born March 17, 1882, at Rising City. She attended school in the Centennial District and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Shelby. On Sept. 11, 1902, she was married to Edward Haney. Three children were born to the couple. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Wauneta) Minnick of Cedar Bluffs and Mrs. Paul (Grace) Duren of Rising City; one sister, Mrs. Grace Stryker of Callaway, a grandson, Ed Durr of Soda Springs, Idaho; and two great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one son, Bruce, and a sister, Mrs. Flossie Shenefelt.
