''''''''''''''''' The Brainard Clipper , December 20, 1917, p. 4, col. 1 Bruno Woman Passes Away Mrs. Josephine Hlavac of Bruno came to Brainard, Wednesday morning via the C. & N. W. freight, to spend the day with her sister, Mrs. Anna Hlavac, who has been very ill for the past week. The latter's daughter, Mrs. Jos. Horacek, accompanied by her husband, came on the evening passenger. Shortly before the arrival of the freight, Mr. and Mrs. Horacek and Mrs. Hlavac started to the depot. Hearing the train, they hastened their walk, and Mrs. Hlavac, who had been troubled with heart disease, became exhausted and had to be taken from the train. She was carried into the depot, where she died before a physician could be summoned. Obituary will be published next week. '''''''''' The Brainard Clipper , December 27, 1917, p. 4, col. 2 Obituary of Mrs. Hlavac Josephine Posvar was born in Moravia, January 15, 1861 and died of heart failure at Brainard, Neb., Thursday, Dec. 19, 1917. When 12 years of age she came with her parents to this country and settled on a farm near Bruno. In 1884 she was united in marriage to Frank Hlavac at Abie, Neb., where she lived until Mr. Hlavac's death, 16 years ago, when she returned to Bruno. She was the mother of four children all living at Bruno. They are: Mrs. Mary Otoupal, Edward Hlavac, Mrs. Emma Kriz and Otto Hlavac. The remains were taken to Bruno where the funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the family residence. Mr. Sadilek of Wilber preached the funeral sermon. Burial was in the Bruno cemetery. Mrs. Hlavac was a member of the Z. C B. J. .and J. C. D. lodges.
